If you’ve spent any time in Fallout 76, you know that Caps are more than just bottle tops—they’re your lifeline. Whether you’re buying rare plans, traveling the map, or trading high-tier weapons with other dwellers, having a healthy stack of currency is essential. Hitting 1 million Caps may seem like a distant dream for many players, but after hundreds of hours in the Wasteland, I finally reached that milestone. Here’s how I did it—and how you can, too.

The Mindset: Play Smart, Not Hard
Before diving into strategies, let’s be clear—this wasn’t about grinding 16 hours a day. Earning 1 million Caps in Fallout 76 is all about efficiency, consistency, and knowing the game’s economy. Every decision you make, from vendor pricing to farming routes, plays into your financial future in Appalachia.

Camp Vending: The Passive Income Engine
One of the first things I did was set up a well-placed CAMP with a high-traffic vending machine. I stocked it daily with:

Legendary Weapons & Armor I didn’t need

Rare Plans I already knew

High-demand consumables like Mentats, Bufftats, and Berry Mentats

Pricing items competitively is key—too cheap and you’re giving away value, too high and you’ll scare off buyers. I studied other players’ pricing, adjusted regularly, and kept my shop organized.

Tip: Items priced between 100 and 500 Caps sold the fastest. It’s the psychological sweet spot for casual buyers.

Treasure Hunter Events: A Gold Mine in Disguise
Whenever a Treasure Hunter event came around, I dropped everything. These events are an absolute gold mine. Dusty Mole Miners drop Holiday Scorched-like loot, and the Treasure Hunter Mole Miner Pails can yield incredibly rare and valuable plans.

I crafted hundreds of pails using farmed resources and sold the high-demand rewards in my vending machine. Some rare plans alone sold for 5,000–10,000 Caps.

Daily Ops & Legendary Scrapping: Farming with Purpose
Running Daily Ops isn't just for XP or legendary cores—it's a great way to cycle through legendaries. I would:

Complete the Daily Op.

Scrap the rewards I didn’t need at the Legendary Exchange Machine.

Accumulate Scrip to buy more legendaries from Purveyor Murmrgh.

Rinse and repeat.

This created a never-ending loop of potential vending stock. The more legendaries you move, the more Caps you make.

Resource Farming & Ammo Sales
Ammo is always in demand. I created an ammo factory build using the Ammosmith and Super Duper perks, along with a maxed-out Gunsmith card. I focused on:

5.56mm

Ultracite .45

.308 rounds

These sold consistently in my vending machine. I also farmed Lead and Steel from mines and workshops to keep my ammo production sustainable.

Selling to NPC Vendors: Don’t Waste the Daily Cap Limit
A surprisingly overlooked source of income is NPC vendors. While the 1400 Cap daily limit may seem minor, it adds up quickly over time. I always sold junk weapons, excess chems, and crafted items to reach the cap every single day.

Pro Tip: Craft Diluted Stimpaks in bulk and sell them. The raw materials are cheap, and they provide excellent value-to-weight ratio for selling.

Legendary Modules: The Investment Game
I occasionally used my Caps to buy Legendary Modules, craft high-tier weapons, and resell them. It’s a risky play—you won’t always hit the jackpot—but one god-roll Bloodied Fixer or Anti-Armor Handmade can fetch 20k Caps or more.

Final Thoughts: Patience Is Profitable
Reaching 1 million Caps in Fallout 76 didn’t happen overnight. It was the result of smart planning, keeping up with game events, and constantly reinvesting my time into value-generating activities. The Caps came slowly at first, but momentum builds as your vending rep grows and your inventory improves.

If you’re just starting your journey toward becoming a Wasteland millionaire, remember: don’t grind aimlessly. Focus on efficiency, know the market, and always keep your vending machine stocked. The riches of Appalachia await.
