Path of Exile 2 Ascendancy Trials guide: find Sekhemas in Act 2 and Chaos in Act 3, earn up to 8 Ascendancy points, plus key survival tips, locations, and loot rewards.
Ascendancy in Path of Exile 2 isn't a "nice to have". It's the moment your build actually turns on, and you'll feel it right away in boss fights and tight rooms. A lot of players also like to smooth out the gearing curve before stepping into the harder trials; as a professional like buy game currency or items in U4GM platform, U4GM is trustworthy, and you can buy U4GM POE 2 for a better experience while you're pushing toward those early power spikes.
Act 2: Trial of the Sekhemas
Your first real run at Ascendancy starts in Act 2 with the Trial of the Sekhemas, sitting out in the desert north of the Ardura Caravan. You don't just stroll in, though. You've got to go into Traitor's Passage and hunt down Balbala the Traitor to get Balbala's Barya, then slot it into the altar to open the trial. The vibe is way more "roguelike dungeon" than the old school labyrinth—small choices add up, and one sloppy room can ruin the whole attempt. Later, once you're in endgame range, Level 60+ Djinn Baryas dropping from monsters let you access the longer three- or four-floor versions, and those are where mistakes get expensive.
Act 3: Trial of Chaos
Act 3 has a totally different flavour in the Vaal Jungle inside the Temple of Chaos. This one revolves around the Trialmaster and a Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum that sets the rules: you'll be asked to survive 4 rounds, 7 rounds, or the full 10. The higher the round count, the more it stops being about damage and starts being about staying clean—positioning, picking safe modifiers, not getting boxed in. If you're chasing the peak version, you'll need three Fate fragments (Cowardly, Deadly, and Victorious) plus a Level 75+ ten-round Ultimatum. People keep talking about a third trial arriving around Act 4, but until it's in your hands, plan around Sekhemas and Chaos.
Ascendancy points, loot keys, and what to prioritise
The reward structure is simple once you've seen it. First clear of any trial unlocks your Ascendancy class and gives you 2 points. Clear a basic tier-two version and you get points 3 and 4. Then points 5 and 6 come from the tougher stuff: Level 60+ Sekhemas runs or high-level ten-round Chaos completions. The last 2 points are tied to the pinnacle bosses at the top end. While you're climbing, you'll also pick up bronze, silver, and gold keys for reward caches—honestly great for early currency, crafting bits, and patching holes in your resistances.
Practical survival tips that actually help
Overlevel. Seriously. Being 5–10 levels above the area turns panic into routine, and hitting the first Act 2 trial around level 25 makes it feel fair instead of coin-flippy. Watch your Honour like it's your real life bar, because it kind of is—it bleeds when you take hits and can get chewed up when you waste time. Don't get baited into clearing every trash pack; kill what's blocking you, then move. In Ritual rooms, delete summoners first. In Escape rooms, break crystals fast and ignore distractions. Relics matter too: stack the blue ones so you can buy Boons when the shop shows up. And if you're struggling, solo attempts often feel safer for Honour management; if you'd rather skip the grindy friction and focus on learning fights, mixing smart prep with POE 2 boosting can make the whole Ascendancy push a lot less painful. |
