Among the many innovations that define Path of Exile 1, few have had as profound an impact as the Labyrinth and the Ascendancy classes it unlocks. This challenging, trap-filled dungeon is not merely a side quest; it is a rite of passage that fundamentally transforms a character, offering access to specialized subclasses that define the endgame. Conquering the Labyrinth is essential for any player seeking to reach the heights of power in POE 1.
The Labyrinth is introduced during the campaign, a sprawling, multi-floor dungeon filled with deadly traps, puzzles, and a final confrontation with the ghost of the emperor Izaro. Unlike the open combat of the rest of the game, the Labyrinth demands patience and mechanical skill. Timing jumps over spinning blades, dodging spikes, and navigating pressure plates become as important as killing monsters. The first completion is a trial by fire, teaching players that POE 1 rewards more than just raw damage.
Upon completing the Labyrinth for the first time, players choose an Ascendancy class. Each of the seven core classes has three Ascendancy options, offering a total of nineteen distinct subclasses. A Marauder can become a Juggernaut, focused on unstoppable tankiness, or a Berserker, trading defense for raw, reckless damage. A Witch can become an Elementalist, mastering the primal forces, or a Necromancer, commanding legions of the undead. These choices are permanent and build-defining, shaping the character's identity for the rest of the game.
The visual and thematic design of the Labyrinth is appropriately grand. The architecture is ancient and imperial, hinting at the glory of a fallen empire. The traps are mechanical marvels, grinding and spinning with relentless precision. The final chamber, where Izaro awaits, is a throne room of tragic majesty. The music swells, the emperor speaks, and the battle begins. Defeating Izaro is a moment of genuine triumph, a testament to the player's skill and perseverance.
The Labyrinth does not end with the first completion. There are three more difficulty tiers, each offering greater challenges and additional Ascendancy points. The final, Uber Labyrinth, is a brutal test that requires a fully optimized build and nerves of steel. Completing it and unlocking the final Ascendancy points is the mark of a true veteran. The Labyrinth is more than a dungeon. It is a crucible, a proving ground where characters are forged into legends. In Path of Exile 3.28 Currency, the path to power runs through the emperor's domain. |
